State Employees Credit Union Foundation awards $18,000 to WCC’s Bridge to Career Program

 

WILKESBORO, N.C. – The State Employees Credit Union (SECU) Foundation awarded $15,000 to Wilkes Community College’s Workforce Development and Community Education (WDCE) for the Bridge to Career Program and an additional $3,000 for administrative costs, bringing the total donation to $18,000. A total of 30 students received a $500.00 scholarship. Thank you to the SECU Foundation for its commitment to empowering students and shaping brighter futures.

 

The SECU Foundation has established the SECU Bridge to Career Program to remove financial barriers for students seeking to obtain state-regulated or industry-recognized credentials that lead to family-sustaining wage careers within their local communities through Workforce Continuing Education at their local Community College.

 

Wilkes Community College, a member of the North Carolina Community College System, is a public, two-year, open-door institution serving the people of Wilkes, Ashe, and Alleghany counties and beyond. Established in 1965, WCC continues to build on a strong history of meeting the educational needs and cultural interests of our students, community, and workforce. WCC prepares learners for success in a dynamic world.
