App State Student-Athletes Extend 3.0 GPA Streak to 24 Semesters

BOONE, N.C. — App State student-athletes extended their outstanding streak to 24 consecutive semesters with a cumulative GPA above 3.0 thanks to their academic performances during the 2024 spring.

The Mountaineers ended the spring with a 3.20 semester GPA for all student-athletes, contributing to an identical 3.20 cumulative GPA for all student-athletes.

Every program at App State finished the spring with a cumulative GPA above 2.85, led by a 3.65 from women’s golf, which had a department-best GPA of 3.74 during the spring. 

Field hockey, soccer, volleyball and tennis also had a semester GPA of at least 3.49, while the other teams with a cumulative GPA above 3.50 are field hockey and volleyball.
 
On the men’s side, the top semester GPA was a 3.39 that belonged to men’s cross country, which also possesses the top cumulative men’s GPA with a 3.31. The football team eclipsed a 3.0 semester GPA (3.02) for the first time in program history, excluding COVID-19 semesters.

Sixteen teams boasted a spring semester GPA above 3.0.

In September, when the Sun Belt Conference last announced academic honors for its member institutions, App State ranked in the top four among the 14 football-playing members with a combined 223 honorees among the lists for the Academic Honor Roll (league-high 102 members), Commissioner’s List (109 members) and 1A Far Academic Excellence Award (12 members).
