Watauga Arts Council Presents Touchpoints: Exploring Texture in Art, Upcoming Reception on October 15th
BOONE, NC — October 6, 2026 — The Watauga Arts Council is pleased to announce the opening of Touchpoints: Exploring Texture in Art, a new exhibition on view in the Watauga Arts Council’s Main Gallery from October 6 through December 14.
Touchpoints brings together artists working across a variety of mediums to explore the role texture plays in how we see and experience art. Featuring fiber art, painting, mixed media, and more, the exhibition encourages viewers to take a closer look at the surfaces, layers, materials, and details that give each work its unique character.
Through a diverse range of artistic approaches, Touchpoints highlights the many ways artists use texture to create depth, movement, dimension, and meaning. From intricate and tactile surfaces to layered compositions, the exhibition invites audiences to consider how texture can influence our understanding and experience of a work of art.
The exhibition features work by Cole Avery, Natalie Culler, Linda Elksnin, Emily Singleton, Luke Lewis, Carol Thompson, Wen Redmond, Phi Perry, Mary Strong, Mairin Jacquot, Marianne Ferlazzo, Theresa Redmond, Susan Payne, Kate Wurtzel, Orianna Drury, and Carlos Vargas.
