Blake Garrett’s Cause of Death Revealed, 5 Months After How to Eat Fried Worms Former Child Actor Died at 33
Garrett was known for his role in the 2006 family comedy How to Eat Fried Worms. TMZ first reported his death on Monday, Feb. 9. His mother Carol Garrett told the outlet he died Feb. 8, in Tulsa, Okla.
On Monday, July 13, the Tulsa chief medical examiner’s office announced that Garrett’s probable cause of death was acute fentanyl toxicity. There were no other significant conditions listed that may have contributed to his death, and Garrett’s manner of death was declared an accident. According to the chief medical examiner’s report, Garrett was found at his residence in Tulsa on Feb. 8 around 9:44 p.m. and pronounced dead at the scene.
According to TMZ’s reporting in February, Carol said Blake had recently visited an emergency room after experiencing intense pain and was diagnosed with shingles in the weeks before his death. She said that he had embraced a sober lifestyle in recent years. The chief medical examiner’s report noted that Blake was living at a sober living house at the time of his death.
