Ex-NFL star Antonio Brown pleads guilty to reduced charge, sentenced to probation in 2025 shooting

MIAMI (AP) — Former NFL star Antonio Brown has pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a firearm in connection with a 2025 shooting in Miami. Brown entered the plea to the reduced charge in state court in Miami on Friday. The All-Pro wide receiver avoids prison time after initially being charged with attempted murder. Police said Brown grabbed a handgun from a security staffer and fired two shots at a man he had been in a fistfight with earlier. Brown maintained he was defending himself from an attack as others were trying to steal jewelry from him. The 38-year-old spent 12 years in the NFL, most of it with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson revealed he has spent several days in the hospital undergoing tests to determine the cause of unexplained neurological symptoms that have affected his strength and coordination. While the tests results have been what he called “reassuring” in coming back positive, the cause of the medical condition remains unknown, Henderson said in a lengthy post on his Instagram account. The 24-year-old Henderson has not practiced since Oct. 29, when he was listed as having an illness, and was ruled out of playing in 24-19 win over Miami on Sunday.

NFL tells Brandon Aiyuk he owes the 49ers about $13M, AP source says

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — The NFL told disgruntled receiver Brandon Aiyuk that he needs to repay the San Francisco 49ers about $13 million he previously received in bonuses as he tries to get reinstated to the team’s roster. Aiyuk’s new agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said this week that Aiyuk had submitted his paperwork to the NFL to get back and was planning to report to the 49ers on Friday. A person with knowledge of the situation says the league sent Aiyuk and the NFLPA a letter Thursday saying that he owes the 49ers the money based on bonuses he was paid after signing a four-year, $120 million extension before the start of the 2024 season.

Blue Jays say RF Anthony Santander’s anti-Muslim posts do not represent the team’s values

TORONTO (AP) — The Toronto Blue Jays say a series of anti-Muslim videos posted by Anthony Santander on the right-fielder’s social media account do not represent the team’s values and beliefs. The team issued the statement after Santander posted the videos in the aftermath of the U.S. midterm elections. He deleted them on Thursday. The videos included a Christian preacher saying, “There is no such thing as kind Muslims,” with another suggesting Sharia law would be imposed on the U.S. after Abdul El-Sayed was elected to the senate in Michigan. The 32-year-old Santander is from Venezuela and missed the entire year after having shoulder surgery following his first season in Toronto.

NASCAR CEO Steve O’Donnell, speaking two days before the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway, said the sanctioning body is turning to YouTube and social media influencers in hopes of growing the series beyond its southern roots and moving further into international markets. O’Donnell pointed to admission being up 5% across all races and attendance for kids 12 and up being up 12%. He blamed recent TV ratings on head-to-head matchups with college football and the NFL.

Myles Garrett expected to return for Rams this weekend after 7-game injury absence.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Myles Garrett is expected to return to the field for the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday at Washington after missing the past seven games with a knee injury. Coach Sean McVay announced Garrett’s likely availability before the last practice of the week. The Rams acquired the two-time AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year in a trade over the summer, but he has played in just one game for his new team. Garrett hasn’t played since the Rams’ season opener, when he made no tackles in their blowout loss to the 49ers in Australia. Afterward, Garrett revealed he wasn’t fully fit due to a knee injury that limited him throughout training camp.

Browns to start Shedeur Sanders vs. Saints with Deshaun Watson in concussion protocol

BEREA, Ohio (AP) — Shedeur Sanders will be the Cleveland Browns starting quarterback for Sunday’s game at the New Orleans Saints. Sanders steps in with Deshaun Watson in concussion protocol. Watson was at Friday’s practice but didn’t participate in team reps. Coach Todd Monken said Watson’s absence from practice made the decision easy. Sanders played briefly last week against Pittsburgh after Watson took a helmet-to-helmet hit. Sanders, the son of Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, started seven games last season. Sunday’s game features quarterbacks from the 2025 NFL draft class. Cleveland aims to avoid consecutive losses, while New Orleans returns from a bye week.

Jacoby Brissett is joining a Baltimore team in crisis after another blowout loss

BALTIMORE (AP) — The Baltimore Ravens have lost three straight games by at least 20 points for the first time in franchise history after Thursday night’s 33-10 loss to Jacksonville. The losing streak is at four overall. After Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley were both injured last weekend against Buffalo, Joe Fagnano was next man up at quarterback. Him having to make his first career start on a short week against the Jaguars was predictably difficult. Now the Ravens have completed a trade for Jacoby Brissett. He’s started eight games at quarterback this season for Arizona.
