JEFFERSON, N.C. — Ashe County Schools is pleased to announce that the Ashe County Board of Education has approved the appointment of Mrs. Tania Rollins as Assistant Principal of Blue Ridge Elementary School, effective August 4, 2026.
Mrs. Rollins begins her 25th year with Ashe County Schools, bringing nearly three decades of educational experience and a distinguished record of instructional excellence, leadership, student advocacy, and school improvement.
She began her career with Ashe County Schools at Blue Ridge Elementary School, where she served for 18 years as a second-, fifth-, and sixth-grade teacher. During that time, she also served as Curriculum Coach and Testing Coordinator, helping lead instructional initiatives and support student achievement.
For the past six years, Mrs. Rollins has served at Ashe County Middle School in a variety of instructional and leadership roles, including seventh-grade English Language Arts and Social Studies teacher, eighth-grade Mass Media and Yearbook teacher, Lighthouse Team Coordinator, Student Lighthouse Team Advisor, and Team Lead/Department Chair. In 2025, she was selected by her peers as Ashe County Schools Teacher of the Year, recognizing her exceptional commitment to teaching, leadership, and student success.

Throughout her career, she has consistently embraced opportunities to grow as a leader while investing in the success of those around her. Her experience at both Blue Ridge Elementary and Ashe County Middle School, along with her participation in the North Carolina Principal Fellows Program, has prepared her well for this role. We are excited to welcome her back to Blue Ridge Elementary and look forward to the positive impact she will have on students, staff, and families.”
Prior to joining Ashe County Schools, Mrs. Rollins taught third grade for four years in another state and also served as a Virginia School Summer Camps Events Coordinator.
Mrs. Rollins earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Central Florida and a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from Appalachian State University. She also holds a North Carolina Secondary (6–12) English Language Arts certification. She is currently a North Carolina Principal Fellow and is pursuing her Master of School Administration at Appalachian State University. As part of her district leadership responsibilities, Mrs. Rollins will also provide periodic leadership support to Ashe County Early College High School.
Reflecting on her appointment, Mrs. Rollins said, “I am thrilled, honored, and deeply grateful to be returning to Blue Ridge Elementary as the new Assistant Principal. Blue Ridge has always held a special place in my heart, and I am excited to return to the school community that shaped so much of my career. I look forward to serving alongside our dedicated staff, partnering with families, and supporting every student as they learn, grow, and discover their limitless potential.”
Mrs. Rollins and her husband, Alex, reside in Crumpler with their children, Alexis and Kolter. Outside of school, she enjoys walking, exercising, practicing yoga, and spending time outdoors with her family and their dogs.
