TROY, N.Y. — Appalachian State Wrestling went 2-1 at the Northeast Duals on Saturday, sandwiching lopsided wins against Sacred Heart and Ithaca around a loss to 15th-ranked Rutgers.

The Mountaineers shut out Sacred Heart in a 55-0 victory, won three matches in a 26-9 loss to the Scarlet Knights and took the first eight matches in a 32-9 win against the Bombers.

Najar followed an opening-match pin against Sacred Heart at 157 pounds with a huge 5-1 decision against ninth-ranked John Van Brill of Rutgers. Randall Diabe used a late takedown to claim a 6-5 decision against Matthew Correnti of Rutgers at 197 pounds, and Irvin Enriquez followed his opening-match pin at 141 pounds with a 6-1 decision against Michael Van Brill of Rutgers.

The victory in that stretch came from Diabe, who had a minute-plus advantage in riding time when he erased a 5-3 deficit with a takedown in the final minute of the third period.

Najar took a 2-1 lead late in the second period of his match and added three more points in the third, and Enriquez took an early 2-0 lead before sealing the win with a late takedown.
