NEW ORLEANS – App State junior Emily Carver has earned Preseason Third Team All-Sun Belt accolades, the league announced Monday.
Last season, Carver led the Sun Belt in 3-pointers per game in season and league-only play and shot a league-high .444 from beyond the arc in SBC action. The Asheville, N.C. native started all 31 games and was the Black and Gold’s top scorer in 10 games as well as the top rebounder in nine games. Carver accounted for 76 of App State’s single-season record 233 made 3-pointers, and ranked within the top-55 in the NCAA for 3-pointers made per game. Carver scored 380 points on the year, scoring double-digits in 19 games and tallied four consecutive 20+ point games from Jan. 12 to Jan. 21. She also totaled two double-doubles on the season. Carver shot .698 from the line, .372 from the field, and .345 from the arc.
Carver joins nine Mountaineers who have earned spots on the Sun Belt Preseason All-Conference teams since App State joined the conference in 2014.
Carver and head coach Angel Elderkin will be attending Wednesday’s Sun Belt Media Day in New Orleans. Fans can tune on ESPN+ at 8 a.m. CT (9 a.m. ET).
The Mountaineers will launch the 2023-24 campaign on Nov. 6, as they host UNC Greensboro at 6:30 p.m. Season tickets and single game tickets are available to purchase.
Leading up to the 2023-24 home opener, fans are encouraged to join the Mountaineers for their Brews and Buckets tipoff event on Oct. 29 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at AMB. The Boone community will have the opportunity to meet the team and coaching staff as well as enjoy live music and yard games. There will also be a silent auction and poster signing. Tickets are $35 and include two drink tickets as well as a $5 off ticket voucher for any 2023-24 home women’s basketball game (excluding the men’s basketball doubleheaders.)
