Watauga County Veterans Memorial Project

March 17, 2018 marks the two-year anniversary of the Watauga County Veterans Memorial project and completion is quickly approaching. While the High Country Chapter of Military Officers Association of America (HCCMOAA) has worked tirelessly with a number of volunteers to reach 80% of their fundraising goal, financial support is still needed to make this project a reality. Site preparations will begin in early spring, with a dedication ceremony scheduled for July 4, 2018. As seen in the photo below, artist Suzie Hallier is working diligently toward completion, with the five columns and knee walls in their final stages. The memorial, titled “Time and Honor”, is not a Watauga County Memorial, but a memorial for all Veterans, and especially those in Watauga County. It is a fully accessible, public memorial for those Veterans who have served and are currently serving our great country and to recognize the sacrifices they have made in protecting the freedoms we have today. We all know a Veteran, whether friend, family or neighbor. What better way to honor and pay tribute to them than with a donation to this unique and truly creative memorial?

The end of the project is nearing. Now is the time to become a part of this great tribute!
