BOONE, N.C. — Senior defensive lineman Myquon Stout and senior running back Jalin Moore will be Appalachian State’s student-athlete representatives at the 2018 Sun Belt Fais Do-Do and Media Day later this month in New Orleans.
Stout and Moore will join coach Scott Satterfield at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Monday, July 23, for a media day filled with press conferences and interviews. A day earlier, they’ll attend the Fais Do-Do, the name for an elaborate Cajun party with live music and local foods.
Stout and Moore were the two junior captains on a 2017 team that clinched a share of a second straight Sun Belt championship.
Stout’s 41 tackles last season ranked third among Sun Belt interior linemen, and he’ll enter 2018 as a third-year starter who has been named a preseason All-Sun Belt second-team selection by Athlon Sports.
The Sun Belt’s rushing champion in 2016 and 2017, Moore ranks second among active FBS players with 3,170 career rushing yards, and he’s the only active FBS back who’s rushed for at least 235 yards in four career games.
Appalachian State opens the 2018 season with a game at nationally ranked Penn State on Sept. 1, and the Mountaineers’ league opener is a Sept. 29 home game against South Alabama.
