Softball Signs Three to the 2022 Roster

BOONE, N.C. – Head Coach Shelly Hoerner and App State softball staff announced the signing of three future Mountaineer student-athletes on Wednesday afternoon.

 

“We are excited for this incoming class; as this day is something every young lady looks forward to. They are proven winners, competitors and more importantly great character individuals,” said Shelly Hoerner.

 

“Our program continues to elevate every year and these signees will continue to help us make an impact in our Boone community, App State and the SunBelt Conference.”

 

Alannah Hopkins

Sylva, N.C. / Smoky Mountain High School

 

An All-Conference pitcher from Smoky Mountain High School, Hopkins joins the Mountaineers after a successful high school career. As a member of Smoky Mountain High School, Hopkins has earned varsity letters all four years, while earning the ASA National Champion title in 2016 and the USA Junior Cup National Champion title in 2018. Hopkins was also named Conference Pitcher of the Year and District Pitcher of the Year. Through her high school career, she has currently pitched 77 innings with 128 strikeouts, posting a 1.09 ERA. At the plate, Hopkins is hitting .341 with 10 RBIs and three home runs. Hopkins has played travel ball with the Fury 2022 Premier.

 

Ambry Lucas

Senoia, Ga. / Trinity Christian School

 

A member of Trinity Christian School varsity softball team, Lucas has earned the varsity letter award all four years. As a freshman, the infielder was named Offensive Player of the Year. Lucas was named All-Country and to the All-Region team as a freshman, sophomore and junior, while also being named MVP. Lucas has led the team with the highest batting average of .465 and posted a .615 on base percentage. Lucas has played travel ball with the Georgia Academy Power, where she led the team with eight home runs.

 

Kaylee Kardash

Fishers, I.N. / Fishers High School

 

A member of the Fishers High School varsity softball team, Kardash has earned the varsity letter award for four years. As a junior, Kardash earned All-Conference honors. Kardash currently carries a .395 batting average with 11 home runs so far in her high school career, while posting a 1.141 on base percentage and a .706 slugging percentage. She was named to the Indy Star Super Team, where she was ranked No. 4 player in the Indiana Class of 2022. She also ranked 60th in the top 100 of the 2022 class. Kardash has played travel ball with the Georgia Impact.
