Silas Creek Domestic Turns Into Stabbing

Sheriff B. Phil Howell reports that on May 22, 2019 at approximately 3:51 pm, Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a 911 call in the Silas Creek area. Deputy Charlie Howard found the victim on the way to the call with a laceration to the arm and a scratch on the shoulder. After arriving at the home, the suspect fled the scene on foot.

Lt. Joe Francis immediately requested an automated emergency phone message be sent to residents to be aware of the incident, report any sightings and stay away from the suspect, Corey Dean Hollifield. Approximately 40 minutes into the search, Mr. Hollifield was located several miles away. After a brief altercation, Lt. Joe Francis arrested the suspect without injury.

The 24 year old male Corey Dean Hollifield was charged with Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury and Resisting an Officer. He is currently held in the Ashe County Detention Center under a $27,500 bond.
