Scottish Christmas Evening at the Village

News Release:  Scottish Christmas Evening at the Village

The Fourth Annual Scottish Christmas Evening will be held at Whippoorwill Academy and Village on Dec. 14 from 4 p.m.-9:00 p.m. The evening will include live music by RG Absher; Bob and Roberta Kogut; Mike Brown; and The Restless Child band. Music will take place in both the Chapel of Peace and the Ferguson homeplace. 

Margaret Martine will tell Scottish fairy tales in the Chapel. The Freda DeGruchy dancers will perform at the pickin’ porch. Santa will be in the school house and a Scottish Christmas ornament making workshop will take place upstairs in the school house. An original painting by Tim Larson will be raffled off at the end of the evening.

The bookstore, country store and the Smokehouse Gallery will also be open. The old Ferguson home place will be open for hot Scottish tea and scones. The Tom Dooley Museum will have fried apple pies, ham biscuits and Brunswick stew for sale. Vendors will be in two of the cabins. Admission is $10.00 per person. Children 12 and under are free. Parking is free. All proceeds go to Whippoorwill Academy and Village, which is a 501-C-3 non-profit.
