Registration open for North Carolina Wildlife Medicine Symposium at Lees-McRae College 

BANNER ELK, N.C.—Veterinarians, veterinary technicians, wildlife rehabilitators, and pre-veterinary and veterinary students are invited to register for this year’s North Carolina Wildlife Symposium, held Sept. 25–28 at Lees-McRae College.  

The Wildlife Medicine Symposium features three and a half days of educational presentations from experts across the field of wildlife medicine. Previous sessions have included presentations on One Health initiatives around the world, species-specific medical care, and new advances in veterinary science.  

Along with the opportunity to learn from professionals on the cutting edge of wildlife medicine and network with others working in the field, attendees can earn up to 20.0 hours of RACE-approved continuing education credit.

Lees-McRae College is a leader in wildlife education, enrolling hundreds of students in pre-veterinary medicine, wildlife biology, and wildlife rehabilitation programs. The college is one of the only in the country to house a fully operational wildlife rehabilitation center on campus. Under the supervision of veterinarians and licensed rehabilitators, students help treat more than 1,500 injured and orphaned wild animals each year. Wildlife symposium attendees will be able to tour the rehabilitation facilities and learn more about how Lees-McRae is preparing the next generation of wildlife medicine practitioners.  

Register before July 15 to take advantage of early bird pricing: $400 for veterinarians and $200 for veterinary technicians and rehabilitators. Prices increase to $450 and $250 after July 15. The cost covers a light breakfast and full lunch each day of attendance as well as an evening social on Saturday, Sept. 27. The symposium will also be offered virtually at a rate of $200 for veterinarians and $100 for veterinary technicians, rehabilitators, and students.
