Pringles, Nutella, Cheerios Among Thousands of Products Recalled for Exposure to Rodent Waste

Nearly 2,000 products have been recalled due to the presence of rodent and bird contamination.

Gold Star Distribution, Inc. has recalled thousands of food items, pet foods, beauty products and drugs distributed to three states, according to a notice shared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The recall, which was initially released on Dec. 26, was prompted after the FDA determined that the Minneapolis-based facility was operating under “insanitary conditions, including the presence of rodent excreta, rodent urine, and bird droppings.” This means that the affected products may have been in contact with surfaces with airborne particles of animal waste. Exposure to these contaminated products could cause illness like salmonella or leptospirosis, a bacterial disease from exposure to animal urine.

The FDA gave the recall a Class II classification on Jan. 22, meaning that use of the product “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote,” per the organization’s site.

Affected products were distributed to stores in Indiana, Minnesota and North Dakota. A specific list of retailers can be found on the FDA’s website here.

The list of affected items spans across cosmetics, drugs, pet food, household items and food and beverages.

Candies like Jolly Ranchers, Skittles and Sour Patch Kids were affected, along with other snacks like Pringles and Takis, were affected. Breakfast items were affected too, with boxes of Cheerios and Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Cereal among a long list of recalled cereals. A range of drinks including Gatorade, Coca-Cola, Smart Water and Arizona Iced Teas are recalled as well. Even pantry staples, including Heinz Ketchup, Crisco Oil and cinnamon sticks, were affected by the recall.

Pepto Bismol, Axe body spray, Q-Tip cotton swabs, Fancy Feast cat food and Gillette razors are just a few of the other types of affected items.

A full list of recalled items with their exact UPC and SKUs is available on the recall notice.

The company advises consumers who purchased the affected products to “destroy the products as soon as possible,” per the recall announcement.

Gold Star Distribution, Inc. did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request to comment.

“We should have a substantially lower rate now that even this moron admits inflation is no longer a problem or threat.

“He is costing America Hundreds of Billions of Dollar a year in totally unnecessary and uncalled for INTEREST EXPENSE. Because of the vast amounts of money flowing into our Country because of Tariffs, we should be paying the LOWEST INTEREST RATE OF ANY COUNTRY IN THE WORLD.

“Most of these countries are low interest rate paying cash machines, thought of as elegant, solid, and prime, only because the U.S.A. allows them to be. The Tariffs being charged to them, while bringing in $BILLIONS to us, still allows most of them to have a significant trade surplus, though much smaller, with our beautiful, formerly abused Country.

“In other words, I have been very nice, kind, and gentle to countries all over the World. With a mere flip of the pen, $BILLIONS more would come into the U.S.A., and these countries would have to go back to making money the old fashioned way, not on the back of America.

“I hope they all appreciate, although many don’t, what our great Country has done for them.

“The Fed should substantially lower interest rates, NOW! Tariffs have made America strong and powerful again, far stronger and more powerful than any other Nation. Commensurate with this strength, both financial and otherwise, WE SHOULD BE PAYING LOWER INTEREST RATES THAN ANY OTHER COUNTRY IN THE WORLD!

Homan: Sanctuary States Are Sanctuaries for Criminals

Sanctuary cities are “sanctuaries for criminals” who endanger communities, President Donald Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan, said Thursday morning in his first press conference after arriving in Minneapolis.

Homan said he was deployed to Minnesota earlier this week to help restore law and order and remove dangerous criminal illegal aliens from local communities.

He made clear his focus is public safety — not politics or headlines.

“I didn’t come to Minnesota for photo ops or headlines,” Homan told reporters. “I came here to seek solutions.”

Homan said more than 10 million illegal aliens entered the country under the Biden administration, including millions of “gotaways” who evaded authorities.

Many, he warned, pose national security and public safety threats.

Trump, he said, promised voters he would reverse those failures and prioritize the safety of American communities.

The border czar said he has spent the past several days meeting with Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Attorney General Keith Ellison, and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey — all Democrats — as well as law enforcement leaders and others.

“We didn’t agree on everything. I didn’t expect to agree on everything,” Homan said. “But you can’t fix problems if you don’t have discussions.”

One key area of agreement, Homan noted, was that Immigration and Customs Enforcement is a legitimate law enforcement agency with a duty to enforce federal law.

Homan said the administration was working on drawdown plan to decrease presence of ICE in Minnesota.

“As we drill down on these great agreements [with Minnesota officials] we’ve got, this great understanding we have means less so we can draw down those resources,” he said.

“When the violence decreases, we can draw down those resources. But based on the discussions I’ve had with the governor and the AG, we can start drawing down those resources.”

He added the drawdown “can happen even more if the hateful rhetoric” stops.

He emphasized that his request is not for local officials to become immigration officers, but for cooperation to remove criminal aliens already in custody.

“Jurisdictions that refuse to cooperate with federal immigration authorities are sanctuaries for criminals,” Homan said. “Sanctuary cities are sanctuaries for criminals and endanger the residents of the community.”

Homan praised Minnesota’s Department of Corrections for honoring ICE detainers and said that cooperation has made communities safer — not only for residents, but for law enforcement officers as well.

He also announced progress with Ellison, who clarified that county jails may notify ICE of release dates for criminal illegal aliens so agents can take custody lawfully and safely.

“That’s common sense,” Homan said, noting that arrests inside jails are safer than attempting to locate dangerous suspects after release.

He dismissed claims that cooperation with ICE discourages crime victims and witnesses from coming forward.

“Victims and witnesses don’t want the bad guy back in their neighborhood either,” Homan said.

Homan said continued cooperation will reduce crime, save resources, and fulfill Trump’s commitment to put American safety first, especially in cities that he said have paid the price for years of failed border policies.
