FBI Arrests ‘Most Wanted’ Fmr Olympian Ryan Wedding

Ryan Wedding, a former Olympic snowboarder for Canada who was among the FBI’s top fugitives and faces charges related to multinational drug trafficking and the killing of a federal witness, has been arrested.

Wedding, 44, is accused of running a drug trafficking operation, and officials say he orchestrated several killings to further the drug crimes. He was on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list, and authorities had offered a $15 million reward for information leading to his arrest and conviction.

He was charged in 2024 with running a drug ring that used semitrucks to move cocaine between Colombia, Mexico, Southern California, and Canada. Authorities said his aliases included “El Jefe,” “Public Enemy,” and “James Conrad Kin.”

In November, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced that Wedding had also been indicted on charges of orchestrating the killing of a witness in Colombia to help him avoid extradition to the U.S.

Authorities said Wedding and co-conspirators used a Canadian website called “The Dirty News” to post a photograph of the witness, so he could be identified and killed. The witness was then followed to a restaurant in Medellín in January and shot in the head.

Wedding faces separate drug trafficking charges in Canada that date back to 2015. He was previously convicted in the U.S. of conspiracy to distribute cocaine and was sentenced to prison in 2010.

Treasury Sec Scott Bessent mocks Gavin Newsom at Davos: ‘Patrick Bateman meets Sparkle Beach Ken’

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent roasted California Governor Gavin Newsom while both were attending the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, questioning Newsom’s economics and mocking his presence at the elite gathering.

Speaking during the high-profile forum, Bessent took aim at Newsom, who is widely speculated to be considering a 2028 presidential run, “Governor Newsom, who strikes me as Patrick Bateman meets Sparkle Beach Ken, may be the only Californian who knows less about economics than Kamala Harris,” Bessent said.

Bessent also criticized Newsom’s appearance at the event, saying the governor was attending alongside his “billionaire sugar daddy,” a reference to Alex Soros, the son of George Soros. He added that Davos was a “perfect place” for Newsom due to his hypocrisy during the Covid-19 pandemic, when Newsom was seen dining at upscale restaurants while California remained under strict lockdown orders.

Newsom attended the World Economic Forum and was seen on video appearing uneasy as President Donald Trump delivered remarks. During his speech, Trump addressed the ongoing dispute over Greenland, reiterating that the United States is pursuing a diplomatic deal to acquire the territory.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — An Illinois doctor has pleaded not guilty to murder charges in the December shooting deaths of his ex-wife and her dentist husband in their Columbus home. Thirty-nine-year-old Michael David McKee of Chicago appeared remotely from jail for his arraignment in Franklin County on Friday. He faces aggravated murder and aggravated burglary charges in connection with the Dec. 30 killings of 39-year-old Monique Tepe and 37-year-old Dr. Spencer Tepe. After the release of a videotape sparked dozens of tips from the community, investigators pursued McKee to Rockford, Illinois, where he was arrested Jan. 10. He was returned Tuesday to Ohio.

What weather apps sometimes miss about dangerous winter storm conditions

That snowflake icon on your smartphone app might be quick and handy — it just might not be as accurate as a human when the weather gets rough. Experts say that’s especially important during winter storms like the one forecasted to smack the eastern U.S. with a mix of heavy snow, treacherous ice and subzero temperatures. The popular Weather Channel app, for example, uses artificial intelligence to analyze everything from computer models to citizen weather reports. But humans always have the last word. Most experts say the best place to get the most accurate forecast is still probably local television meteorologists.

TikTok finalizes a deal to form a new American entity

TikTok has finalized a deal to create a new American entity, avoiding the looming threat of a ban in the U.S. that has been in discussion for years. The social video platform company signed agreements with major investors including Oracle, Silver Lake and MGX to form the joint venture. The company said in a statement that the new version will operate under “defined safeguards” with an emphasis on data protections and software assurances for U.S. users. The establishment of a U.S. unit ends years of uncertainty about the fate of the popular video-sharing platform in the United States.
