NORTH CAROLINA/ASHE COUNTY WOMEN GUN OWNERS JOIN NATIONAL SHOOTING LEAGUE
LAUREL SPRINGS, NORTH CAROLINA

The A Girl & A Gun (AG & AG) Women’s Shooting League is
launching their Ashe County chapter on Thursday July 21, 2022. The league was founded by Julianna
Crowder and Renee Blaine over 10 years ago when a group of ladies got together at a local range in
Leander, TX to socialize and shoot guns. Word spread across Texas, and now, the league has grown to
include 194 chapters across 41 states with an online chapter that includes members from all 50 states.
Current membership is 7,100 members nationwide and a social media following of more than 43,000
fans.

Recently, the National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers announced that participation by
women has increased in both target shooting (56.5 percent) and hunting (46.6 percent) in the last
decade. Retailers have also seen a rise in the number of firearms being sold to women. If they own
them, they need a place to get out and shoot them and have some fun. Girls Night Out at the range
provides a safe, welcoming environment for women to come and shoot, whether it’s to be more
proficient for personal safety or just to have a good time and get some “trigger therapy.”

AG & AG is a ladies’ organization established by women shooters for women shooters for pistol, rifle
and shotgun sports. The mission of the league is to educate and encourage women about the
opportunities of recreational and sport shooting, and to promote women’s interest and participation in
the competitive shooting sports. The New River Chapter of AG & AG, organized by Kelly Carson, will be
based at the Ashe County Wildlife Club. The chapter will have regularly scheduled events every month
for ladies to socialize and practice their shooting skills. Events will include Girl’s Night Out, Breakfast &
Bullets, and Trigger Time. Attendance numbers vary from chapter to chapter, but we expect to see this
chapter to attract 10-15 women at every event. Members range from as young as elementary school
age all the way up to retirees and grandmothers. More information about A Girl and A Gun Women’s
Shooting League can be found at www.agrilandagun.com

The official launch is Thursday July 21, 2022 at The Ashe County Wildlife Club from 6:00-8:00pm. The
regular schedule will be released at this event.
