Sheriff B. Phil Howell reports that a female juvenile that was reported missing by her parents on the night of April 15th has been located. She is safe and secure at this moment as we await her arrival back from Tennessee.
Late Monday night the juvenile’s parents reported her missing from their Warrensville home. Our immediate response led our patrol deputies to the mountainous wooded area of Baker Hill in the Warrensville community. Our investigation led deputies and detectives to believe she left the area with an older man.
At approximately 1:00 pm today, Law Enforcement authorities located the juvenile in Cleveland, Tennessee where she is currently out of harm’s way at this time. The male is currently in custody as we gather additional information and conduct a criminal investigation.
Due to the nature of this incident, we will not be releasing any additional information at this time.
I would like to give thanks to everyone who has worked endlessly over the last 14 hours to locate this juvenile. The Ashe County Sheriff’s Office could not and did not complete this on our own. Thanks to Ashe County Emergency Management, Ashe County Rescue Squad, NC State Bureau of Investigation, United States Marshal Service, National Center for Exploited & Missing Children and the Cleveland Police Department (TN) as we now have a family waiting the safe return of their child.
