BOONE, N.C. – App State Men’s Basketball head coach Dustin Kerns announced the addition of five collegiate transfers to the 2025-26 roster on Friday.
 
“We are really excited about our spring additions to our several great returning players and early signees,” Kerns said. “Our coaching staff did a great job of identifying talented players that have produced at a high level and staying committed to getting student-athletes that align with our core values.  We are thrilled to get these guys to campus so they can see the world-class experience academically and athletically that App State offers.”
 
Kasen Jennings | 6-3 | G | Atlanta, Ga. | South Florida | Langston Hughes
Jennings joins the Mountaineers from South Florida where he spent two seasons with the Bulls. He played in 31 games in 2024-25, making 27 starts, and averaged 7.1 points a game on 37 percent shooting. Jennings is an efficient shooter who shot 35 percent from three a season ago, which was the fourth highest on USF last season. For his career, Jennings is a 35 percent shooter from deep and has buried 118 3-pointers in his career. The Atlanta, Ga., native is also a willing wing defender as he has tallied 90 steals in his career. Jennings opened his South Florida career by scoring 15 points against Florida, which won the 2024-25 national championship.
 
Prior to his time with the Bulls, Jennings spent three seasons with the Kennesaw State Owls, appearing in 85 games. Jennings was a part of the 2023 NCAA Tournament team and scored four points while dishing out four assists against third-seeded Xavier. Jennings sank 83 threes for the Owls and shot 38 percent from deep in both his junior and sophomore seasons. He tallied a career-best 19 points against Wake Forest in November of 2021 and dished out 57 assists, which was the third-most on the team in the 2021-22 season. Over his three years at Kennesaw State, Jennings made 29 starts.
 
KJ Vasser | 6-1 | G | Chicago, Ill. | Moberly Area Community College | Yorkville Christian
From Chicago, Vasser comes to App State after being named an NJCAA Honorable Mention All-American in 2024-25 after scoring 13.9 points a game for Moberly Area Community College. He scored 444 points a year ago, which was tied for the 153rd-most in the nation. A first-team all-region selection in 2024-25, Vasser is an efficient shooter from deep, boasting a 34 percent 3-point percentage in 2024-25 on 198 attempts. Additionally, Vasser led the NJCAA in free-throw percentage last year, shooting 94.3 percent (83-88). He recorded five games scoring at least 20 points, which includes a 28-point game to open the season. A willing passer, Vasser tallied 125 assists in his sophomore season (3.9 per game), which was the 67th-most in the nation.
 
Vasser also spent his freshman season at Central Missouri where he appeared in 15 games in 2023-24. He averaged 15 minutes per game and scored 4.3 points per contest. Vasser totaled three double-digit scoring games for the Mules and shot 30 percent from 3-point land. Vasser was also a state champion in Illinois in his high school career and was named to the IHSA All-State first team in 2021-22.
 
Chad Moodie | 6-8 | F | Grayson, Ga. | Alabama A&M | Grayson
Moodie is set to join the Mountaineers after spending the previous two seasons at Alabama A&M where he appeared in 65 games for the Bulldogs. Moodie finished 18th in the SWAC in scoring last year, averaging 10.8 points per game. A ferocious rebounder, Moodie finished the season as the fifth-best rebounder in the conference, grabbing six boards per game. He was also the eighth-best offensive rebounder in the league and recorded three double-doubles. On the defensive end, Moodie excels as he led the SWAC in blocks and blocks per game in 2024-25, swatting 55 shots (1.8 per contest). He upped that average in league-only play, blocking 2.3 shots per game. Additionally, his scoring and rebounding saw an uptick in conference play as he scored 10.7 points and grabbed seven rebounds per league game in 2024-25.
 
In his first year with the Bulldogs, Moodie was named the SWAC Freshman of the Year after scoring 7.5 points a game on 52 percent shooting. Moodie again led the league in blocks his freshman season with 44. He enters the 2025-26 season with 99 career blocked shots. Moodie was one of the best rebounders in the league in 2023-24 as he tallied 135 boards, 48 being offensive, which is good for an average of four per game. He tallied two 20-point games in 2023-24, a 21-point contest against Prairie View A&M, and a career-best 24 points vs. Austin Peay. He also recorded a double-double against Sun Belt rival South Alabama on Dec. 21, 2023.
 
Eren Banks | G | 6-4 | Eatonton, Ga. | Georgia Southern | Putnam County
Hailing from Eatonton, Ga., Banks joins App State after two seasons at Georgia Southern where he saw action in 63 games and made 54 starts. Banks averaged 9.4 points a game for the Eagles in 2024-25 and shot a career-best 46 percent from the field. Banks was one of the best shooters in the Sun Belt Conference a year ago as he shot 39.7 percent from beyond the arc, which was the second-highest on the team in 2024-25. It was also the second-highest 3-point percentage in a season by a Georgia Southern sophomore. He enters the 2025-26 season with 101 career made 3-pointers. Banks scored in double figures 13 times for the Eagles, with eight of those coming in Sun Belt play. He enters the 2025-26 season with 29 career double-digit scoring games. A willing passer, Banks finished second on the team in assists in 2024-25 with 77.
 
His freshman season in Statesboro saw him make 24 starts and score 10.2 points a game, which was the second-highest average on the team. He was one of two Georgia Southern players to score 300 points in 2023-24. He totaled 16 double-digit point games in his first season at the collegiate level, with two of those being 20-point games. His two 20-point games came in back-to-back contests, making him the first Georgia Southern freshman to record back-to-back 20-point games since 2016. Additionally, Banks shot 39 percent from three on 126 attempts and dished out 57 assists. He enters the 2025-26 season with 134 career assists.
 
Jalen Tot | 6-1 | G | Dallas, Texas | Montana State – Billings | John Paul II
Spending the previous three seasons at Division II Montana State – Billings, Tot joins the Mountaineers off of back-to-back seasons in which he was named all-conference. This past season, Tot was the GNAC Preseason Player of the Year and led the Yellowjackets in scoring with 16.1 points per game. Tot’s 16.1 points a game was also the seventh-best average in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) in 2024-25. The Dallas, Texas, native posted nine 20-point games his senior year with the Yellowjackets and buried 84 3-pointers. Additionally, he finished third in the GNAC in steals per game (1.8) and second in steals (61). Tot posted a career-best 35 points on Nov. 21, 2024, against Black Hills State and tallied his first career double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds on Feb. 1 against Western Oregon.
 
In addition to Tot’s stellar senior season with Montana State – Billings, his junior season was filled with superlatives as he was named the GNAC Player of the Year and the D2CCA West Region Player of the Year in 2023-24. Tot scored 15.3 points a game his junior season, totaling 458 points, and shot 46.7 percent from the field and 43.5 percent from 3-point land. His 43.5 percent 3-point field-goal percentage led the GNAC and was the 20th-best 3-point percentage in the country. Additionally, he led the GNAC in 3-pointers made per game with 2.67 per game. Tot totaled a career-best 101 assists in 2023-24 and finished third in the GNAC in assist/turnover ratio, boasting a 2.24 mark. He tallied his first career 30-point game on Dec. 18, 2023, against Rollins College and recorded seven contests with at least 20 points.
