CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — A final-round surge Tuesday in tough conditions helped App State Men’s Golf claim third place in the 18-team field at the Battle at Black Creek event.

With four golfers finishing in the top 22, the Mountaineers posted a 2-under team total (290-283-289—852) and climbed from seventh to third in the final day. They overtook Western Carolina, Troy and Francis Marion on the final day, edging the Catamounts and Trojans by one shot apiece.

Timothius Tirto Tamardi and Sverrir Haraldsson tied for 15th place overall with even-par totals, with Haraldsson remaining steady with rounds of 73, 71 and 72 on the par-72 layout. Tamardi’s opening-round 66 tied for the lowest round of the tournament and was his best competitive round since a 65 during the 2019-20 season.

Jake Lane and Lukas Jönsson tied for 22nd place overall, as Jönsson closed the tournament with under-par rounds of 70 and 71. Lane’s second-round 69 put him in position for a top-25 finish.

Addison Beam also came up big, birdieing four of his last five holes to record a final-round 71 that tied him with Jönsson for App State’s best round of the day.

Chattanooga and UT-Martin both finished with 7-under totals to tie for first place in the team race.
