NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference, in conjunction with ESPN, announced that the Friday, Feb. 28 men’s basketball matchup between the App State Men’s Basketball team and the Marshall Thundering Herd will be broadcast on either ESPN2 or ESPNU. With the announcement, tipoff is now scheduled for 9 p.m. ET at the Cam Henderson Center in Huntington, W.Va.
The contest will be the Sun Belt’s fourth wildcard appearance on the ESPN Family of Networks during the 2025 league season. Including next Friday’s matchup, App State has now been chosen for four of the previous eight nationally televised Sun Belt wildcard matchups. Next Friday’s game will mark the Mountaineers’ fifth appearance on national television since the start of last season. The Mountaineers are 3-1 on national TV since last season.
The game will mark the second regular season matchup and 56th all-time meeting between Marshall and App State. The Thundering Herd leads the all-time series, 34-20, but the Mountaineers swept the regular season series a year ago, which included a 65-58 win on national TV at Marshall last February. The teams will play for the first time this season six days prior on Saturday, Feb. 22 in Boone, N.C.
App State is 16-10 entering Thursday’s contest with Georgia Southern and 9-5 in Sun Belt play. The Mountaineer it just a game behind a three-way tie for first place in the Sun Belt standings with four regular-season games remaining.
