Keep Ashe Beautiful 2018 Litter Sweep a Success


Over one hundred and fifty KAB volunteers could be seen cleaning up roadsides throughout Ashe County helping bring awareness to littering, and to help beautify Ashe County

Ashe County — Keep Ashe Beautiful (KAB), led its network of more than one hundred and fifty volunteers across the county as part of its Annual Litter Sweep engaging businesses, local residents, landowners, service clubs and churches participating in a three-day event that culminated on Saturday, September 22. Over 200 bags of litter were collected and readied for the Ashe County Department of Transportation to pick-up along the sweep routes.

“Our Annual Litter Sweep allows us to work together and continue to advance our fight to end littering, improve recycling and beautify Ashe County,” said KAB Executive Director John Cannon. “Every day, KAB encourages all individuals to join us in our mission and take part in a local community improvement event.”

KAB thanks all those individuals and business who participated (see complete list below) and sends a special thanks to the businesses who provided items or services that helped make the sweep a success. Local businesses contributed free or provided at a reduced cost; t-shirts, printing services, signage, gloves, snacks, safety vests, trash grabbers and water and snacks for volunteers.
