Grammy-Nominated Margo Price Brings Wild at Heart Tour to the Schaefer Center on February 14
Outlaw country standout performs songs from her critically acclaimed album “Hard Headed Woman” as part of Appalachian Arts’ spring season
BOONE, NC — Appalachian Arts, the performing arts series of App State’s Office of Arts Engagement and Cultural Resources, welcomes Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Margo Price to the Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, February 14 at 7:30pm. The performance is part of Price’s Wild at Heart Tour and opens Appalachian Arts’ spring season. Tickets range from $25–$60 and are available at
TheSchaeferCenter.org, in person at the Schaefer Center box office (733 Rivers Street, Boone), or by phone at 828-262-4046.
Known for her fearless songwriting and modern take on outlaw country, Price will perform music from her latest album, Hard Headed Woman, a critically acclaimed release that recently earned Grammy nominations for Best Traditional Country Album — making Price the category’s sole female nominee — and Best Country Duo/Group Performance for her collaboration with Tyler Childers, “Love Me Like You Used to
Do.” Nashville-based guitarist and singer-songwriter Sean Thompson, whose sound blends psychedelia, country, and jazz-funk, will open the evening.
Hard Headed Woman reconnects Price with her old-school country roots while tracing a deeply personal journey — from dive bars to tour buses, through parenthood, partnership, and the scrutiny that comes with success in an industry that prizes conformity. Featuring guest appearances by Tyler Childers, Billy Strings, and Jesse Welles, along with contributions from Kris Kristofferson, Rodney Crowell, and Waylon Jennings, the album is both timeless and fiercely contemporary. As Pitchfork notes, Price “rocks the ‘outlaw country’ label as hard as anyone in the game.”
Over the past decade, Price has carved out a vital space for independent-minded country music to thrive alongside the mainstream. Her work champions authenticity, tradition, and resilience, earning praise from outlets including Rolling Stone, Billboard, NPR Music, and American Songwriter, which calls her “one of the most interesting country artists today.”
