Department of State Treasurer Announces Round 2 of Hurricane Helene Cashflow loans

(Raleigh, N.C.) — Local governments impacted by Hurricane Helene can apply to the Department of State Treasurer (DST) for cashflow loans as Round 2 of the program prepares to launch. Round 1 resulted in more than $47.5 million being distributed, leaving an estimated $50 million still available.  

N.C. DST announced yesterday that local governments that experienced losses due to Helene’s devastating flooding will have until June 6 to apply. DST staff will begin calculating Round 2 loan amounts once requests are submitted.  

The General Assembly created the $100 million cashflow loan program under the Disaster Recovery Act of 2024, which was passed Dec. 11, 2024.
