KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Appalachian State junior guard Ronshad Shabazz (Raleigh, N.C./Huntington Prep) has been named Second Team All-District 24 by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).
Shabazz, who was named Second Team All-Sun Belt last week, earns NABC All-District honors for the first time in his career.
This season, Shabazz led the team in scoring at 18.5 ppg and also dished out a team-best and career-high 100 assists. He also posted a career-high 36 steals and shot .400 from the field, which represents a new career-best.
Shabazz also left his mark in the Mountaineer record book during the season. He finished with 609 total points, which ranks as the fifth most in single season history. In addition, his 206 made field goals are tied for the seventh most in a season in program history.
In his career, he has tallied 1,481 points, which sits 11th on the App State all-time scoring list. Shabazz also has drained 190 career three-pointers, which ranks him seventh all-time.
Appalachian State finished the 2017-18 season with a 15-18 overall mark and a 9-9 record in Sun Belt play, which was tied for fifth. The fifth place finish was the best for the program since it joined the Sun Belt in the 2014-15 season and the nine wins are tied for the most for the program in Sun Belt play.
