Ashe County Middle School Welcomes New Assistant Principal
JEFFERSON, N.C. — Ashe County Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Aaron Butt as Assistant Principal of Ashe County Middle School, effective July 1, 2025. His selection was approved by the Ashe County Board of Education at its June meeting.
Mr. Butt brings 17 years of experience in education to his new role. He spent nine years teaching English to students in grades 6 through 12 at Fork Union Military Academy in Central Virginia. For the past eight years, he has served as Associate Head of School at Oak Hill
Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia.
Mr. Butt holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Education in Administration and Supervision, both from the University of Virginia.
He lives in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia with his wife, Nicole, and their three children: Elijah, Lydia, and Jude. Outside of his professional life, Mr. Butt enjoys a variety of outdoor hobbies that include running, fishing, canoeing, camping, gardening, and foraging for wild mushrooms.

Ashe County Middle School Principal Sherrie Hines expressed her enthusiasm about Aaron Butt joining the ACMS team as the new assistant principal, stating, “He brings a contagious energy, a deep love for working with middle school students, and a wealth of knowledge from his years of experience in education. I look forward to partnering with him as we continue to support our students in growing, learning, and reaching their full potential.”
