EKG Information & Schedule
Due to COVID Restrictions, the EKG portion of the Heart of a Husky program will be modified. The EKG screening will be completed during the school day, prior to Heart of a Husky on May 21-22. Once all EKGs are completed, they will be sent to a pediatric cardiologist to be read. If any follow-up is needed, the student athlete will see the cardiologist during their scheduled physical appointment on May 21-22.
April 22 – EKGs Scheduled at Mountain View and Westwood Elementary
April 27 – EKGs scheduled at Ashe County High School for ACHS and AECHS students.
April 29 – EKGs scheduled at Ashe County Middle School and Blue Ridge Elementary.
All components of Heart of a Husky are free to student athletes- thanks to the donated services of Ashe Memorial Hospital, Ashe Medics, our local physicians, medical professionals and numerous school and coaching personnel as well as our sponsor – Blue Ridge Energy.
It is very important that all information is filled out correctly. The information you provide in your child’s registration will be printed out once the athlete arrives to their appointment and given to medical providers for their examination.
The Heart of a Husky student athlete screening is an examination for participation in sports. This does not substitute for a comprehensive examination with your child’s regular physician where important preventive health information can be covered.
If you have questions, please contact Athletic Director David Koontz at [email protected] for more information. Registration will close on May 17th.
