JEFFERSON, NC – The Ashe County Chamber of Commerce is excited to present the fifth annual Coolest Corner Ashe Bash, a free, family-friendly music event celebrating the spirit of the High Country. This special anniversary event will take place on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the Ashe County Government Complex in Jefferson.
This year’s celebration features an outstanding musical double-header that promises to thrill fans of bluegrass, gospel, and folk traditions. Starting at 6:00 PM, acclaimed bluegrass and gospel performers Darin & Brooke Aldridge will open the evening with their award-winning blend. With multiple International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) awards, including Brooke’s four-time recognition as IBMA Female Vocalist of the Year, and over 50 performances at the Grand Ole Opry, their heartfelt performance and uplifting harmonies are sure to inspire.
Then at 8:00 PM, returning favorites Scythian will close out the event. Known for their electrifying fusion of Celtic and Appalachian roots music, Scythian will bring high energy, infectious rhythms, and irresistible fun. Their performances have helped make Ashe Bash a can’t-miss annual event—and they’re back to help mark this milestone.
In addition, a special ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 7:45 PM to celebrate the official reopening of Western North Carolina for tourism following the extensive damage caused by Hurricane Helene. This event will recognize the resilience and recovery of Ashe County and the larger Appalachian community and signal to visitors that the NC mountains are once again ready to welcome guests. Officials across the region will celebrate with corresponding events that day to commemorate the strength and spirit that define this area.
As in past years, food vendors will be on site starting at 5:00 PM, offering a variety of delicious fare. Free shuttle service will also begin at 5:00 PM from the Ashe County Civic Center, Ashe Memorial Hospital, Ashe Campus of Wilkes Community College, and Ashe County High School. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, but please note that no alcohol or pets are permitted at the event.
“We are thrilled to be celebrating five years of Ashe Bash,” said Kitty Honeycutt, Executive Director of the Ashe County Chamber of Commerce. “We appreciate the continued support of LifeStore, the County of Ashe, and our other generous partners who help bring world-class talent to the Coolest Corner of North Carolina. It’s a wonderful way to bring people together and showcase the resilience, hospitality, and sense of community that Ashe County embodies.” Whether you’re a longtime local or discovering the High Country for the first time, don’t miss this special anniversary of Ashe Bash. Come celebrate music, community, and five incredible years of fun in the Coolest Corner!
