December 20, 2024App State Student-Athletes Extend 3.0 GPA Streak to 25 Semesters

BOONE, N.C. — App State student-athletes extended their streak to 25 consecutive semesters with a cumulative GPA above 3.0 thanks to their academic performances during the 2024 fall.
Every program at App State — 16 teams for the purposes of this measurement — finished the fall with both a semester GPA and cumulative GPA above 3.0.
The Mountaineers ended the fall with a 3.34 semester GPA for all student-athletes, contributing to a 3.28 cumulative GPA for all student-athletes. That marked the highest cumulative GPA across the board since the 2021 spring and the highest semester GPA across the board since the 2020 fall.
Women’s golf led App State with both a semester GPA of 3.82 and a cumulative GPA of 3.75 following the 2024 fall. On the men’s side, the top semester GPA of 3.61 belonged to men’s golf, while men’s cross country leads the way with a 3.42 cumulative GPA.
In addition to both golf teams, the tennis, soccer, women’s cross country, field hockey, volleyball, men’s cross country and women’s basketball teams had semester GPAs above 3.5. In addition to women’s golf, the other teams with a cumulative GPA above 3.5 are field hockey, volleyball, soccer and women’s cross country.
After the football team eclipsed a 3.0 semester GPA (3.02) for the first time in program history following the 2024 spring, excluding COVID-19 semesters, it posted another 3.02 semester GPA in the fall to raise its cumulative GPA to 3.03.
Last month, App State had a total of 223 student-athletes honored as members of either the Sun Belt Conference’s Commissioner’s List or Academic Honor Roll for the 2023-24 academic calendar.
