BOONE, N.C. – App State student-athletes posted another impressive academic semester during the fall of 2020.
The Mountaineers ended the semester with a 3.54 grade point average for all student-athletes, just under the school record of 3.59 set last spring. The cumulative GPA for all student-athletes currently sits at a school-record 3.33.
This fall was the 17th consecutive semester that App State student-athletes have achieved a cumulative GPA above 3.0.
All 16 programs ended the semester with a GPA over 3.2, including 12 teams with better than a 3.5 GPA. Women’s cross country led the women’s sports with a 3.81 semester GPA. Men’s golf topped the men’s sports with a 3.73.
All App State’s teams maintain a cumulative GPA above 3.0, with women’s cross country leading the way at 3.72. Field hockey and women’s golf aren’t far behind, with a 3.69 and 3.63, respectively. On the men’s side, men’s golf holds the highest cumulative GPA with a 3.53.
The Mountaineers were recently recognized by the Sun Belt for their academic excellence, boasting the highest number of student-athletes named to the Honor Roll and Commissioner’s list with 330. App State also won the 2019-20 Sun Belt Conference Overall Student Graduation Rate Award, with a graduation success rate of 85 percent. This is the second straight year that App State has had the highest graduation rate among overall student bodies of conference schools.
