BOONE, N.C. – App State Athletics continues to plan for comprehensive excellence in the changing collegiate athletics landscape, which requires different strategies for competitiveness compared to the past.

The House Settlement – which would allow institutions to share revenue directly with student-athletes, among other changes – was preliminarily approved on Oct. 7, 2024. The final approval hearing is scheduled for April 7, 2025. Director of Athletics Doug Gillin addressed in this December 2024 message what this means for App State.

App State is preparing for the 2025-26 season with the expectation that it will be permitted to share revenue with student-athletes.

“Many supporters have been asking how they can help in this evolving landscape of revenue sharing,” Gillin said. “One of the answers is the new App State Football Support Fund, which is critical to the future success of App State Football. The cost to continue to compete at a high level is increasing. We are committed to building on App State’s proud winning tradition. Coach Dowell Loggains has hired a first-class staff, and they are building incredible momentum in recruiting as they prepare for the 2025 season and beyond.”

The App State Football Support Fund is among the top priorities for comprehensive excellence moving forward. Giving to the App State Football Support Fund and other sport-specific funds will help Mountaineer sports programs provide the necessary resources to recruit and retain athletes while competing for championships. Donations made to these sport-specific support funds are tax deductible and earn three Yosef Club priority points per $100 of giving.

“With the help of generous supporters, a growing Yosef Club and a focus on innovative revenue generation, we are positioning ourselves to compete in the shifting landscape of college athletics,” Gillin added. “Our commitment is to raise more resources than ever before while operating with maximum efficiency and fiscal responsibility.”

As part of the evolving landscape, App State will not renew its relationship with the TIGMA Collective. The athletics department is thankful for all the work the TIGMA Collective and its board have done over the past year to support the Mountaineers. For questions regarding existing TIGMA memberships, contact a member of the Mountaineers Athletic Fund at mo**********************@ap******.edu or 828-262-7999.

The 3333 Collective will continue to operate in support of App State Athletics.
