NFL-SCHEDULE
Monday night matchup features Rams, 49ers
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) – The Los Angeles Rams, at 7-and-2, are tied for the second-best record in the NFL heading into tonight’s matchup against the San Francisco 49ers, and are making a big push for a Super Bowl title.
The 49ers, at 3-and-5, are mired in a another rough campaign after coming into the year with expectations of being a contender.
About the only similarity for the two teams ahead of their first matchup of the season is the fact that both teams are coming off disappointing losses.
But while Los Angeles’ defeat at the hands of Tennessee looks like a minor blip in an otherwise successful season, the Niners’ home loss to a short-handed Arizona team exposed the problems that have left them at the bottom of the division.
After losing to San Francisco all four times the past two seasons, the Rams aren’t exactly overlooking their rivals headed into the Monday night matchup.

NBA-SCHEDULE
Phoenix looks for ninth straight win
WASHINGTON (AP) – Three teams riding win streaks are in action tonight in the NBA. The Washington Wizards, 9-and-3 so far this season and winners of four in a row, host the New Orleans Pelicans. The Denver Nuggets, winners of five straight, are on the road against the Dallas Mavericks. And the Phoenix Suns try to extend their eight-game win streak against the Timberwolves in Minnesota.
In other NBA action, the Celtics are at Cleveland, the Pistons host Sacramento, the Indiana Pacers play the Knicks in New York, Orlando visits Atlanta, the Rockets play at Memphis, Oklahoma City hosts the Miami Heat, the Raptors visit the Trail Blazers, and the Lakers host the Bulls.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL-SCHEDULE
Top two teams in action at home
UNDATED (AP) – In college basketball action, top-ranked Gonzaga hosts Alcorn State.
Second-ranked UCLA, coming off an overtime win over Villanova on Friday night, hosts Long Beach State. Number-eight Baylor plays at home against Nicholls State. Eleventh-ranked Illinois is at Marquette, and number-17 Ohio State hosts Bowling Green.

NHL-SCHEDULE
Columbus hosts Detroit; Islanders at Tampa Bay
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – After losing two straight at home, the Columbus Blue Jackets try to turn things around as they host the Detroit Red Wings in one of tonight’s two NHL games.
The other matchup finds the Tampa Bay Lightning hosting the New York Islanders. The Lightning are 5-0-and-2 over the last seven games.

TENNIS-ATP FINALS
Djokovic beats Ruud at ATP Finals for 6th straight win
TURIN, Italy (AP) – Top-ranked Novak Djokovic has extended his winning streak to six matches with a 7-6 (4), 6-2 win over Casper Ruud to open his campaign at the ATP Finals.
Djokovic returned this month and won the Paris Masters following a two-month break after his loss to Daniil Medvedev in the U.S. Open final. He’s now attempting to match Roger Federer’s record of six titles at the season-ending event for the top eight players.
The victory gave Djokovic an early lead atop the Green Group in round-robin play. Stefanos Tsitsipas plays Andrey Rublev later. Medvedev and Alexander Zverev won in the Red Group on Sunday as the tournament made its debut in Turin after 12 years in London.
