Game 6 in Houston
WASHINGTON (AP) – Game 6 of the World Series is on Tuesday at Minute Maid Park.
The Houston Astros have a 3-2 lead over the Washington Nationals after Sunday’s 7-1 win by the Astros.
Houston’s next game at home will give the team a chance to claim its second title in three years.
Justin Verlander gets the first try when he starts against Stephen Strasburg.
Miami faces Steelers in Monday ‘Night Football’
UNDATED (AP) – The winless Miami Dolphins (0-6) have dropped nine straight going back to last season and look to end that drought with Ryan Fitzpatrick making his second straight start.
Miami is making its NFL-record 85th “Monday Night Football” appearance and is 42-42 in those games.
The Steelers (2-4) are coming off a bye week and Mason Rudolph will be back under center after missing Pittsburgh’s previous game with a concussion.
Warriors off to a disappointing start
UNDATED (AP) – In the NBA tonight, it’s Oklahoma City at Houston. Russell Westbrook faces the Thunder for the first time.
Chicago plays New York and it’s Indiana at Detroit. Golden State visits New Orleans, but the Warriors may be the biggest disappointment of the first week of the NBA season, blown out by 19 at home to the Los Angeles Clippers and then by 28 on Sunday at Oklahoma City.
Golden State still has forward Draymond Green and Stephen Curry. The Warriors added D’Angelo Russell. They won’t have Klay Thompson until late this season, if at all in 2019-20.
PARIS MASTERS-FEDERER WITHDRAWS
Roger Federer withdraws from Paris Masters
PARIS (AP) – Roger Federer has withdrawn from the Paris Masters to get some rest ahead of next month’s ATP Finals.
The 38-year-old Federer won his hometown Swiss Indoors title for the 10th time on Sunday. Federer’s fourth title in 2019 was the 103rd of his career.
Federer says he needs “to make sure not to strain myself because I want to play as long as possible on the ATP Tour.”
Seeded No. 3 in Paris, Federer will be replaced by a lucky loser in the main draw.
Federer has already earned a spot at the ATP Finals, which features the top eight players in the world.
CALIFORNIA WILDFIRES-LEBRON JAMES
LeBron James among SoCal wildfire evacuees
SANTA ROSA, California (AP) – LeBron James is among evacuees as a fire that erupted early today in Southern California grows to more than 70 acres.
The Los Angeles Lakers player tweeted just before 4 a.m. that he was trying to find rooms for his family after having to “emergency evacuate” his house, calling the fires “no joke.”
He later tweeted that he found accommodation, said he was praying for those affected and advised people to get to safety.
UFC FIGHTER-MISSING STEPDAUGHTER
UFC heavyweight’s stepdaughter reported missing in Alabama
AUBURN, Ala. (AP) – The stepdaughter of Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight Walt Harris has been missing since last week out of Auburn, Alabama.
Police say they found 19-year-old Aniah Haley Blanchard’s car abandoned and damaged at an apartment complex.
Police say the vehicle wasn’t damaged before Blanchard disappeared. Police Chief Paul Register said on Friday that the car had been spotted just after midnight Thursday near Auburn.
Police say she was last seen Wednesday night. Her mother, Angela Haley-Harris, told WBRC-TV that Blanchard was with someone when last contacted by phone that night. That person’s connection to Blanchard is unclear.
Harris has posted pleas for help on Twitter and Instagram.
