ACTRESS KELLY PRESTON DIES
LOS ANGELES (AP) – Kelly Preston has died. The actress’ death was announced by her husband, John Travolta, who confirmed the news in an Instagram post late last night. He says his wife died after a two-year battle with breast cancer. Preston’s film credits include “Twins” and “Jerry Maguire.” She and Travolta met while filming the 1988’s movie, “The Experts.” They last starred together in the 2018 film “Gotti.” In it, Travolta played John Gotti and Preston played the crime boss’s wife, Victoria. Kelly Preston was 57 years old.
SEARCH TO CONTINUE TODAY FOR “GLEE” STAR NAYA RIVERA
LOS ANGELES (AP) – Authorities in Southern California are to enter a sixth day of searching for TV actress Naya Rivera. The former star of the TV show “Glee” has been missing since last Wednesday, when authorities believe she drowned in Lake Piru (PY’-roo), northwest of Los Angeles. A search of the lake using helicopters, ATVs divers and special underwater gear has turned up no sign of her – and authorities say Rivera is presumed to have drowned. The actress rented a boat with her 4-year-old son last week. When she didn’t return in time, the renters went looking for the vessel – and found Rivera’s son on the boat, asleep and alone. Her life jacket and ID were still aboard.
SEARCHERS GET “CLUES” FROM RIVERA FANS ONLINE
UNDATED (AP) – Members of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department have been providing whatever updates they can on the the search for actress Naya Rivera – often using Twitter to do so. But many of those responding to the updates are being hard on those doing the search. They’re saying the department isn’t “searching hard enough.” Others have put forth strange theories about what they think happened – or where they believe the actress can be found. In some cases, people are posting clips that purport Rivera is still alive. Still others are posting specific geographic coordinates, demanding that searchers focus their efforts there.
JADA PINKETT SMITH, WILL SMITH ACKNOWLEDGE MARITAL PROBLEMS
LOS ANGELES (AP) – For years, there have been whispers, talk – and sometimes shouts – about the marriage of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith. Now they are confirming that Pinkett Smith had an affair. The couple chatted together Friday on Pinkett Smith’s series, “Red Table Talk.” In it, she acknowledged hooking up with musician August Alsina while she and Smith were separated. During the discussion, Will Smith nudged his wife to be more forthcoming after she said she and Alsina had a “different kind of entanglement.” Smith replied, “an entanglement? A relationship” – before Pinkett Smith came clean.
ARMIE HAMMER DIVORCING
UNDATED (AP) – Actor Armie Hammer and wife Elizabeth Chambers are calling it quits. The couple is splitting up after 10 years of marriage and 13 years together. Word of the breakup comes in posts on their respective Instagram pages. The twin messages say they’ve decided to “turn the page and move on.” They have a 5-year-old daughter and a 3-year-old son. And both Hammer and Chambers promise that being co-parents will remain a priority.
DISNEY PLANS TO REOPEN TWO MORE FLA. THEME PARKS THIS WEEK
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) – Two down, two to go. Disney plans to get its other two Florida theme parks back on the grid this week, after reopening the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom over the weekend. The parks drew smaller crowds than usual for this time of year when they reopened Saturday for the first time in nearly four months because of the coronavirus pandemic. Visitors are under new rules to curb the spread of COVID-19. On Wednesday, Disney is expected to reopen its Epcot and Hollywood Studios theme parks in Central Florida.
SON OF DAVID AND VICTORIA BECKHAM GETS ENGAGED
LONDON (AP) – Brooklyn Beckham is engaged. The son of retired soccer superstar David Beckham and fashion designer Victoria Beckham says he plans to marry actress Nicola Peltz. Both Brooklyn Beckham and Peltz put the news on Instagram. In his post, Beckham describes Peltz as his “soulmate” – and promises “to be the best husband and the best daddy one day.”
SON OF LISA MARIE PRESLEY DEAD AT AGE 27
LOS ANGELES (AP) – The son of Lisa Marie Presley has died. A representative for Elvis Presley’s daughter describes her as being “heartbroken” to hear of the death of Benjamin Keogh, grandson of the late Elvis Presley. TMZ reports Keough died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound yesterday in Calabasas, California. He was 27.
