“GONE WITH THE WIND” PULLED FROM HBO MAX
NEW YORK (AP) – It’s another in a series of recent moves that show Hollywood is “woke” when it comes to demonstrations against racism and police brutality. HBO Max has temporarily yanked “Gone With the Wind” from its library. The new streaming service says it’s taking the movie out of circulation to add historical context to the 1939 film. The popular movie starring Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh has long been criticized for romanticizing slavery and the South during the Civil War era.

ROWLING SAYS SHE WON’T “BOW DOWN” TO CRITICS
LOS ANGELES (AP) – J.K. Rowling has doubled down on her views about transgender people – even as she vows not to “bow down” to her critics. The “Harry Potter” creator has posted to her website a response to the blowback she’s received. Rowling objects to claims that those who change their sexual identity can identify as men or women. Among her critics are Daniel Radcliffe, who played Potter in the movies and Eddie Redmayne, who was nominated for an Oscar for playing a transgender woman in the 2015 film “The Danish Girl.”

VOGUE EDITOR APOLOGIZES FOR LACK OF DIVERSITY
NEW YORK (AP) – The editor-in-chief of Vogue is apologizing for the way she’s done business. Anna Wintour has sent an internal email saying she’s made “mistakes” during her 32 years as head of the fashion magazine. Like what? She says she didn’t do enough to promote black voices – and says Vogue has run images and stories that were “hurtful or intolerant” of other races and cultures.

DISNEY TO REOPEN SO. CAL PARKS NEXT MONTH
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) – If California officials say OK, Disney will be back in business next month. The theme park has submitted plans to reopen Disneyland and Disney California Adventure on July 17. A nearby Disney-themed shopping area would reopen July 9. As is true for other reopening theme parks, Disney says reservations will be required – and capacity will be limited.
