ALEC BALDWIN SPEAKS ABOUT CINEMATOPHRAPHER
UNDATED (AP) – Alec Baldwin has spoken publicly for the first time about his fatal shooting of the cinematographer on his movie “Rust.” He spoke with some photographers on a Vermont roadside on Saturday. Baldwin called Halyna Hutchins a friend – and that he’s been in “constant contact” with her grieving family. In video distributed by TMZ, Baldwin challenged claims that the production was in turmoil over workplace and safety issues. He says a “very, very well-oiled crew” worked together before what he called the “horrible event” occurred. Baldwin says he decided to speak out so photographers would stop following his family. Investigators in New Mexico say Baldwin’s gun fired a single live round that killed Hutchins and wounded director Joel Souza.

HUTCHINS TRAGEDY POINTS OUT LACK OF STATE, FEDERAL LAWS
UNDATED (AP) – In the wake of the fatal shooting on the set of “Rust,” we’ve learned there are tight rules for handling firearms on a TV or movie set. But we’ve also learned there are no federal or state laws on the issue. The industry’s rules are reviewed or tightened when accidental shootings occur. But the federal workplace safety agency in the U.S. is silent about on-set gun safety. And states that attract movie and TV productions take a hands-off approach. That includes New Mexico, where the “Rust” shooting took place last month.

BOX OFFICE
UNDATED (AP) – After a rocketing start, October’s box office numbers have fallen back to earth. The weekend leader is “Dune,” which holds the top spot for a second straight week. The runner up is “Halloween Kills,” followed by “”No Time To Die.” Meanwhile the weekend’s newcomers, “Last Night in Soho ” and “Antlers,” finished sixth and seventh, respectively.

WINTER PARK, Fla. (AP) – Rain fell this past Thursday in Winter Park, Florida. But for those at an event to honor Fred Rogers, it was still a beautiful day. Rollins College unveiled a sculpture honoring the man who portrayed Mister Rogers on TV for decades. The bronze statue shows Rogers in his iconic sweater and sneakers. The work is titled “A Beautiful Day for a Neighbor.” Rogers transferred to Rollins in 1948 and graduated in 1951. He also received an honorary degree from Rollins in 1974.

DUGGAR FAMILY HEAD SEEKING SEAT IN ARKANSAS SENATE
SPRINGDALE, Ark. (AP) – The patriarch of the Duggar family is looking to get further into politics. Jim Bob Duggar is running for a seat in the Arkansas Senate. He had served in the state House of representatives. He announced his state Senate run on the family’s Facebook page. The family was in the TLC reality TV show “19 Kids and Counting.” The show was pulled in 2015 after it was learned Duggar’s son Josh had molested four of his sisters and a babysitter. He’s also to be tried this month on child porn charges.
