PROSECUTION IN R. KELLY CASE EXPECTED TO REST TODAY
NEW YORK (AP) – Prosecutors were to close out their case against R. Kelly this past Friday. But now, that’s expected today. On Friday, prosecutors presented an expert on abusive relationships. Psychologist Dawn Hughes told jurors of studies that say abusers often isolate, demean, subjugate and spy on their victims to control them. During their five-weeks-plus of testimony, prosecutors put on a parade of witnesses who said Kelly sexually abused them and did some or all of those other things to them. After Hughes is cross-examined today, the prosecution is expected to rest. Kelly’s defense team claims the women were groupies who soured on the popular singer as the (hash)MeToo movement gathered steam.
