Bluegrass museum develops new show about musicians
OWENSBORO, Ky. (AP) –
Officials say a new television show developed by the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum in western Kentucky is scheduled to be distributed by a cable channel later this year. A statement from the museum said each episode of “My Bluegrass Story” is filmed at the Hall of Fame in Owensboro and highlights different artists who tell their stories and perform songs important to their careers. The show is set to premiere on RFD-TV later this year. Some of the artists who traveled to Owensboro to film the show include Hall of Fame members Del McCoury and Doyle Lawson.
MIKE RICHARDS TO LEAVE “JEOPARDY!”
LOS ANGELES (AP) – Mike Richards is out of “Jeopardy!” And he’s been spun off the “Wheel of Fortune.” The executive producer of both those game shows is out of those jobs, according to a memo sent out by Sony Pictures Television. The announcement ends a dizzying fall from grace from a person considered the heir to inherit the podium long occupied by Alex Trebek, who died last year. Instead Richards becomes another cautionary tale of how past comments can come back to bite a person as they reach the pinnacle of success. In its memo, Sony says it hoped having Richards gone as host would the end criticism of him, but it didn’t.
BRITNEY SPEARS, DAD SPAR AGAIN OVER MONEY
LOS ANGELES (AP) – Britney Spears and her lawyer say the singer’s dad is trying to get another $2 million in payments before leaving the conservatorship that has controlled her life and money. And they say, that’s a form of extortion. They have filed documents in court saying James Spears has already gotten millions of dollars from his efforts with the conservatorship – and this is a last-ditch effort to get more. A rep for James Spears didn’t respond to a request for comment. The matter will be taken up in a court hearing later this month.
R. KELLY ACCUSER SAYS SHE WAS NO FAN OF THE R&B STAR
NEW YORK (AP) – A woman who says she wasn’t even a fan of R. Kelly says she still ended up being caught up in his inner circle of young women and girls who traveled to be with him and have sex. The testimony yesterday is from a woman who says she only attended an R. Kelly show because her older half-sister was into him. She says her sexual contact with R. Kelly left her exposed to herpes. She also says Kelly never disclosed that he had the sexually transmitted disease – nor did he use condoms to protect others from getting it
TV RATINGS
LOS ANGELES (AP) – Late summer usually means a drop-off in TV viewership, as people wrap up vacations or get their families ready for another school year. But Nielsen reports breaking news drew what few viewers there were last week to their flat-screens. Reports about the U.S. evacuation from Afghanistan and the approach of Hurricane Ida got big audiences. That led to a win for Fox News Channel, which got a large share of the viewers who tuned in for coverage.
