KATHY GRIFFIN TO HAVE SURGERY FOR LUNG CANCER
UNDATED (AP) – Kathy Griffin says her doctors are optimistic that she will be “up and running around as usual in a month or less.” The comedian has disclosed that she has lung cancer – and will need surgery to treat it. Griffin took to Instagram and Twitter yesterday to say her cancer was caught early – and is confined to just her left lung. The surgery will mean she will lose half her left lung.

 

ASHLEY JUDD WALKING AGAIN
UNDATED (AP) – Remember the gruesome accident that left Ashley Judd’s leg shattered? She is much better now, thanks – and is even able to walk again. Judd has posted a video of herself on Instagram, And the clip, posted Sunday, shows her walking by herself up a hill in a national park in the Swiss alps. Judd was hurt six months ago while walking through a rich Congolese rainforest. She tripped over a log and broke her tibia in multiple places.

 

FOX PRODUCER SUES NETWORK FOR DISCRIMINATION
NEW YORK (AP) – An associate producer has sued Fox News Network, saying he was discriminated against because of his gender and subjected to unwelcome attention from an on-air personality. The suit was filed by John Fawcett who works on the show hosted by Larry Kudlow on Fox Business Network. He also reported an incident in which he says Fox personality Andrew Napolitano stroked his arm and made suggestive remarks. In a statement, Fox News says it investigated Fawcett’s claims and took what it calls “immediate, appropriate action.”

 

AMAZON TO DO SERIES ON TWO TOLKIEN PROPERTIES
LOS ANGELES (AP) – Start the countdown. An Amazon series inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s “Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” novels will roll out next year. The date was announced yesterday in New Zealand. There’s no title yet. But Amazon says the story will cover the “fabled Second Age of Middle-earth’s history.” The series will debut in more than 200 countries and territories.
