GWEN SEFANI, BLAKE SHELTON MARRY OVER JULY FOURTH WEEKEND
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – “The Voice” coaches Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are now married. They held their nuptials in Oklahoma over the Fourth of July holiday weekend. There was no official announcement about when the ceremony took place, but Stefani tagged her wedding photos with Saturday’s date. Shelton, a country music singer, and Stefani, a pop star, posted photos of their wedding online. One shows them posing under a twilight sky. The couple announced their engagement in October.

 

ROCKABILLY MUSICIAN SANFORD CLARK DIES
JOPLIN, Mo. (AP) – Rockabilly and country musician Sanford Clark has died at the age of 85 at a hospital in Joplin, Missouri. Johnny Vallis, his publicist and fellow performer, says Clark was being treated for cancer when he contracted COVID-19. Clark’s single “The Fool” hit No. 7 on the Billboard Top 100 chart in 1956. While he put out other singles with minor success, none ever did as well as “The Fool.” Clark eventually left the music business to work in construction. Elvis Presley and The Animals are among the acts who did their own versions of “The Fool.”

 

R. KELLY’S LAWYERS SEEK DEAY IN NYC SEX TRAFFICKING TRIAL
NEW YORK (AP) – R. Kelly’s new lawyers want a judge to postpone his Aug. 9 sex trafficking trial in New York City. The attorneys say they haven’t had enough time to prepare because the musician has been under mandatory jail quarantine since his transfer from Chicago. In a letter to the judge, the attorneys say Kelly’s two-week quarantine, which ends today, has hindered efforts to get up to speed on the case. As of last night, federal prosecutors hadn’t responded to the request – and the judge has yet to to rule on the filing.

 

JENNIFER NETTLES ENJOYS ROCKING THE BOAT
NEW YORK (AP) – Jennifer Nettles had never made an animated video before she made one for “Sit Down, You’re Rocking the Boat.” Nettles says the pandemic inspired new options and choices for things like that. She collaborated with Colombian artist Rafatoon for the retro style of the video. It also has an homage to the “play our records” outfit she wore to the Country Music Association Awards. Nettles says she has found that listening to her heart, even if it means rocking the boat, has worked out well for her.

 

TRISHA YEARWOOD PLANS NEW BOOK OF RECIPES
NEW YORK (AP) – Trisha Yearwood is putting out another cookbook. “Trisha’s Kitchen: Easy Comfort Food for Friends and Family” will feature 125 recipes like “Pasta Pizza Snack Mix,” “Camo Cake” and “Garth’s Teriyaki Bowl.” Yearwood says she often works out her thoughts while working a pastry crust. The book comes out Sept. 28. Yearwood also has just released an acoustic version of “She’s in Love with the Boy” to mark the 30th anniversary of her self-titled debut album.
