OSCAR HAS A DATE
UNDATED (AP) – After a year that saw the Academy Awards ceremony end up delayed, deconstructed – and ultimately disappointing – plans are being laid for next year’s event. The motion picture academy and ABC say the 2022 Oscars will be Mar. 27. And for now, anyway, the ceremony will be done as it was in 2019. It’s returning to the Dolby Theater in Hollywood and the eligibility window will close Dec. 31. This year’s location, staging and eligibility rules were all drastically changed by the pandemic. And since there’s no telling what the future holds, organizers say their plans are subject to change.

BRITNEY SPEARS MUSICAL IN THE WORKS IN D.C.
NEW YORK (AP) – Plans are under way to crank out a new musical featuring old Britney Spears songs. The Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, D.C. will stage “Once Upon a One More Time” – and will include Spears’ tunes like “Oops! . I Did It Again,” “Lucky,” “Stronger” and “Toxic.” The storyline centers on classic fairy tale princesses like Cinderella whose lives are turned around after reading the landmark Betty Friedan book, “The Feminine Mystique.” The production is to launch Nov. 29.

RUSH LIMBAUGH’S SLOT REPLACED BY TWO BROADCASTERS
NEW YORK (AP) – Rush Limbaugh’s radio syndicators will use two broadcasters to fill the slot that used to be held down by the late talk show host. Premiere Radio Networks will put Clay Travis and Buck Sexton together for a new show that will run weekdays from noon to 3 p.m. The new show launches June 21. Limbaugh died Feb. 17. Since then, Premiere has aired a series of guest hosts who would run clips of old Limbaugh shows.
