FLORENCE, S.C. (AP) – Back in January, Kodak Black was in the news – as one of the people who got a pardon from – or had a sentence commuted by – outgoing President Donald Trump. Now, the rapper is back in the news – this time, for a plea deal in a South Carolina case. At first Black was charged with rape – but he has now accepted a plea deal for first-degree assault. He gets a 10-year suspended sentence that will keep him out of prison if he completes 18 months of probation.

BIDEN’S ADDRESS BEFORE CONGRESS PRODUCES HISTORIC MOMENT
WASHINGTON (AP) – We don’t know yet how President Joe Biden’s first address to Congress did in the ratings. But it did produce some interesting images. As he spoke to lawmakers, it was Biden’s first appearance at the U.S. Capitol since his inauguration – and his second since the insurrection and a failed effort by some Republican lawmakers to overturn his election win. It was also the first presidential address where lawmakers had to wear masks and practice social distancing because of the pandemic. Biden’s speech in the House chamber also made for a historic image: behind a president for the first time were two women: Vice President Kamala Harris and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

BIDEN – NEWS COVERAGE
NEW YORK (AP) – A new study says there is a difference in how the news covers President Joe Biden and how it covered his predecessor, Donald Trump. The Pew Research Center says nearly two-thirds of the stories about Biden during his first two months in office dealt with his policies and political ideology – with another 35% about his character and leadership style. Pew reports that for Trump, 75% of the early stories about him dealt with his character and leadership style.
