OSCARS PLANS SHAPING UP
UNDATED (AP) – This year’s Golden Globes were done as a bi-coastal affair, with hosts in New York and Los Angeles. When the Oscars are held, they will be bi-continental. Show producers say they will have an in-person ceremony on April 25 in Los Angeles, complete with red carpet arrivals. But it also says it will stage part of the event in the U.K. The concession is being made to quiet complaints from nominees who might not be able to come to the U.S. because of international travel restrictions due to the pandemic.

LOS ANGELES (AP) – The last part of April may turn out to be quite a time for Andra Day. On April 22, the actress will receive an award at the Essence Black Women in Hollywood event. Others being honored include Zendaya and Whoopi Goldberg. Just three days later, Day is up for an Oscar. She’s nominated for best actress for the title role in the film, “The United States vs. Billie Holiday.” The Essence event will be livestreamed while the Oscars will be broadcast on ABC.
