JOHNNY DEPP DENIED APPEAL BID
LONDON (AP) – No way. That is basically the message a British court has delivered to Johnny Depp, telling the actor his request for an appeal was rejected without even being heard. The court says Depp’s effort to flip the case has “no real prospect of success.” Late last year, a judge rejected Depp’s libel suit against The Sun newspaper. The “Pirates of the Caribbean” star objected to an article that called him a “wife beater.” But in a trial last summer, Depp’s ex-wife, Amber Heard testified against him, saying he beat her during their troubled marriage.

CNN’S CHRIS CUOMO DRAWN INTO GOVERNOR-BROTHER’S POLITICAL CRISIS
NEW YORK (AP) – Having a prime-time show on CNN and a brother in the New York governor’s mansion had been a good combination for Chris Cuomo. But with his older brother in political crisis over allegations of sexual harassment and other misconduct, that combination isn’t working so well right now. Now, the anchor’s a key figure in the scandal – amid allegations he got special treatment in the early days of the pandemic. Published reports say Chris Cuomo got a COVID-19 test from a state health official last March – and the sample was rushed to a state lab for processing. This happened at a time in the pandemic that testing was hard to come by, even for those with COVID-19 symptoms. Meanwhile, Chris Cuomo is off the air this week – but is due back on Monday.
