WOODY ALLEN SUES AMAZON FOR ENDING MOVIE DEAL
NEW YORK (AP) – Filmmaker Woody Allen is suing Amazon for at least $68 million, saying that the company ended a four-picture movie deal last year after old accusations against him resurfaced in the press. The lawsuit, filed Thursday, says that Amazon knew about a “25-year-old” allegation before signing with Allen in 2017, but still used it as an excuse to back out of the deal. Amazon did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Allen’s daughter, Dylan Farrow, has said that Allen molested her in an attic in 1992 when she was 7-years-old, which Allen has denied. Farrow talked about the allegations in a TV interview for the first time in 2018. The lawsuit doesn’t mention Farrow by name. According to the complaint, Allen finished a film that Amazon never released.
SPOKESMAN: COSBY’S WIFE, CHILDREN HAVEN’T SEEN HIM IN PRISON
COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. (AP) – A spokesman for Bill Cosby says his wife and children haven’t visited him in a Pennsylvania prison because the actor doesn’t want them “in that environment.” Spokesman Andrew Wyatt says Cosby also fears the visits would become a circus. Camille Cosby made only brief appearances at his two criminal trials, while their daughters stayed away. Cosby is serving a three- to 10-year sentence for a 2004 sexual assault. Wyatt say the 81-year-old considers himself “a political prisoner,” much like heroes Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela. He says Cosby won’t express remorse, even if it leaves him to serve the 10-year maximum. Cosby insists the encounter was consensual. State officials say he’s been moved to the general population after four months in prison. Wyatt sees Cosby regularly, and says he is fit, happy and working on new creative projects.
SHATNER TO MAKE 3RD TRIP TO STAR TREK SET IN UPSTATE NY
TICONDEROGA, N.Y. (AP) – Star Trek’s William Shatner is making his third trip to a replica of the Enterprise. The actor who played Capt. James T. Kirk will conduct tours of a reproduction of the iconic TV set in Ticonderoga, New York the weekend of June 7-8. Tickets range from $22.50 for a set tour without Shatner to $1,400 for an “Admiral Package” featuring a pizza-and-beer sitdown with Shatner after touring the set with him. Shatner visited the Star Trek set near the Vermont border twice last year. Local resident and self-described superfan James Cawley began the years-long process of building Star Trek sets in 1997 after inheriting a copy of the original Enterprise blueprints.
