LOS ANGELES (AP) – There hasn’t been much going on at the box office lately. But there is a new movie out now – and it has the top spot on the current list. Liam Neeson’s “Honest Thief” took in $3.7 million over the weekend in its U.S. debut. That was enough to eclipse “The War With Grandpa,” which had been number one. The Robert De Niro comedy took in $2.5 million this past weekend. The box office overall remains stifled, as moviegoers are by and large avoiding the multiplexes because of the COVID-19 outbreak.

NEW YORK (AP) – President Donald Trump likes to criticize what he insists is “fake news.” But should he lose his fight for re-election, it would be no small irony that he might have been done in by on-air sessions with three mainstream journalists. The latest was last week when Trump did a town hall hosted by NBC’s Savannah Guthrie. She won praise for pinning down Trump on key questions on his health, personal finances and his habit of spreading false conspiracy tales online. The forum was similar to Trump interviews this summer with Jonathan Swan of Axios and Fox News’ Chris Wallace. During all three, Trump’s claims were challenged as he was fact-checked in real time.
