ADULT STAR RON JEREMY HIT WITH NEW SEX CRIMES CHARGES
LOS ANGELES (AP) – Porn star Ron Jeremy is facing new charges accusing him of rape or sexual assault. The charges were filed yesterday by authorities in Los Angeles, who charged Jeremy with the rape of three women and the sexual assault of a fourth. The latest charges see Jeremy charged with 20 new counts of rape or sexual assault, spanning from 2004 to January of this year. Jeremy has pleaded not guilty to the new charges – just as he did with the charges filed two months ago. Jeremy, who is 67, has been held on $6.6 million bail since June.

 

NIECY NASH IS MARRIED
LOS ANGELES (AP) – Niecy Nash was officially divorced from her husband Jayson Tucker in March. Now she has remarried. She and singer Jessica Betts have announced on social media that they tied the knot over the weekend. News of the wedding catches fans of the actor and comedian by surprise; until now, Nash gave no indication she had been in a relationship with a woman. Nash is 50 and is known for her work on the TV series “Reno 911,” “Never Have I Ever” and “Claws.”

 

JOHN OLIVER PARRIES EFFORT TO NAME SEWAGE PLANT AFTER HIM
UNDATED (AP) – John Oliver is putting the city of Danbury, Connecticut on the spot. The comedian says he will donate $55,000 to charity if the town follows through on its joking threat to name its sewage treatment plant after him. The city went after Oliver after he went on a rant against it on his HBO show, “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.” Mayor Mark Boughton vowed to name the sewage plant after Oliver, because he says they are both – quoting here – “full of crap.” Danbury says it is considering Oliver’s offer – and plans a response by week’s end.

 

CENTRAL FIGURE IN “HOTEL RWANDA” ARRESTED BY RWANDAN GOVERNMENT
KIGALI, Rwanda (AP) – The central figure portrayed in the movie “Hotel Rwanda” has been arrested. Police in Rwanda say Paul Rusesabagina (roo-SEH’-sah-bah-GEE’-nuh) has been arrested by the Rwandan government on terror charges. Rusesabagina is a well-known critic of Rwanda’s president who has lived outside of the country since 1996. Police won’t say where he was nabbed. In “Hotel Rwanda, Don Cheadle played Rusesabagina – a Hutu married to a Tutsi – who used his pull as manager of a prominent hotel to let more than 1,200 Tutsis shelter amid inter-tribal turmoil.

 

CBS SPORTS TO EXAMINE RACISM IN SPORTS
UNDATED (AP) – If you’ve spent any time on social media recently, you’ve probably heard a lot of people saying things like racism and politics shouldn’t be a part of the sports world. But on Sunday, CBS Sports will devote a chunk of air time to the issue. The programs, collectively called “Portraits in Black” – will look at racial and political events in sports, including the recent response by athletes after the shooting of Jacob Blake in Wisconsin. The series will be hosted by James Brown.
