Jennifer Hudson, wearing Lakers’ purple, did a pregame music tribute. Players on one team wore Bryant’s No. 24 on their jerseys, while players on the other team wore No. 2, the number his daughter Gianna wore. Both teams wore a patch with nine stars, one for each crash victim. And the game’s top player, Kawhi Leonard, is first recipient of the Kobe Bryant MVP Award, which the NBA rechristened after Bryant’s death. Bryant was an All-Star Game MVP four times in his career.
