The King Bees will host the third of 10 Backstreet Concerts in 2019 on June 21. The Hotel Tavern is the individual sponsor of this concert. The band will perform at the Backstreet Park starting at 5:30 p.m. The concert is free. In the event of rain the concert will move to the Ashe Arts Center at 303 West School Street.
The King Bees, Rob “Hound Dog” Baskerville and Penny “Queen Bee” Zamagni, live in Ashe County, but travel the world with their blues and American roots music. This year marks the 31st anniversary of the band and the 16th year of the New River Blues Festival that they sponsor here in Grassy Creek in northern Ashe County.
The West Jefferson Community Partnership is an organization made up of businesses, non-profits and individuals interested in promoting the town of West Jefferson. It meets at City Hall at 8:30 a.m. on the fourth Friday of every month. People interested in getting involved in the town are invited to attend. Participating organizations include Ashe County Arts Council, Ashe County Chamber of Commerce, Ashe County Public Library, Christmas in July, Florence Thomas Art School, Imagination Ashe, Keep Ashe Beautiful, The Hotel Tavern, Town of West Jefferson, and West Jefferson Business Association.
